Erykah Badu visited BET Centric (Her) to explain the meanings behind some of her most popular lyrics. For years many have speculated over what some of her most poetic, but confusing lyrics meant, but not any longer.

A few months ago Erykah explained; in only the way she could, what millions around the world could never understand. The popular lyric from her hit record; “On And On” which states: “I was born underwater, with three dollars, and six dimes…yea you may laugh, cause you did not do your math…”



Erykah Says;

“…That means in the womb, with dollars, and six dimes, three hundred and sixty degrees thats a complete circle, I was born complete…”

  1. I always interpreted “born underwater” as a reference to Badu’s astrological sign, Pisces, as it’s a water sign.
