2016 Black Girls Rock Red Carpet Looks & Award Show Highlights LOOK:

B.L.A.C.K Girls Rock!! They Milly Rock!

This years show featured some amazing performances by Brandy and Jazmine Sullivan an amazing tribute and a surprise guest, Hilary Clinton! Airing April 5th on B.E.T Black Girls Rock is an annual show that uplifts and highlights ordinary and extraordinary women of colour who do amazing things in the community, and arts and entertainment. This year Tracee Ellis Ross hosted the show for the first time, alone! That’s right her normal partner Regina King was unable to attend due to work, which in 2016, a B.L.A.C.K actress being so booked that she cannot host, is a good thing! Tracee gladly continued on and rocked the house, although Regina was missed.

This year the two major awards are going to Rihanna, achieving the Rock Star award, and the living legend Gladys Knight! There’s even a performance by Lauryn Hill!!! It’s shows like this that show Amerikka and people of colour just how powerful we are, and how powerful we can be. Our Youtube Queen Franchesca Ramsey was even invited and to see her growth from a Youtube guru to having her own Tv show on MTV, and being a writer on the Nightly Show, Franny is inspirational beyond belief! Chescaleigh isn’t the only star of the night, this show high lights non-celebrities as well to show little Brown girls and boys that hard work, dedication, and appreciation is what life is all about!
