She’s Baaack!
Raven Symone releases two new singles “Cruise Control” and “Sarafina” on soundcloud May 21st. The actress, singer, dancer, and now co-host of The View has not released a record since her last album in 2008 “Raven-Symone”. Unaware if these records are official singles for an album to come, or simply songs to get her feet wet again, fans are wondering what’s got Raven inspired again. At first listen, Raven’s voice is still amazing, more vocal control, and the harmonies are off the chain!
Raven Symone new single “Cruise Control” is a modern day sound, with a smooth and B, hippy vibe, pop feel. It expresses a sexual side of Raven that we are not used to. It’s a grandiose, almost audio visual of what it may feel like to let go and let your inhibitions fly. its very soundtrack-ish, an epic sound for a dramatic interpretation. I can already see a video.
“Im letting go on cruise control. ..don’t you worry about the milage”
Raven Describes it as;
“A soft melodic transparent story of sex and speed filled with ambient sounds and undertones of sexual frustration.”
The second single Raven released “Sarafina” which automatically makes you think it’s a cover from the Broadway hit South Afrikan Musical about the Afrikan struggle in opposition to the apartheid and a girl (Sarafina) who changed the outcome of the Soweto Riots, but it’s not. It’s a fantasy record that invites you inside its world. It reminds me of a song you’d hear at a Cirque Du Soleil show. Vocally, Raven transforms herself into a fantasy creature and becomes the song. Raven describes it as;
‘Tis’ Dusk when the war starts’ Eerie sounds of melodic, fantasy vocals describing a world that can only be named Sarafina…”
