Monica recently sat down with Oprah’s Where Are They Now to discuss Whitney Houston and her impact on the singers life. Monica recalls Whitney being her mentor, but not just a mentor, a Fairy God Mother. Whitney Houston being from Newark Nj knows a thing or two about dealing with the streets. Monica recalls a moment where Whitney showed up in Atlanta looking for Monica when Monica was going through hard times.

Monica, 36 years old, has already been through what many may experience in a full life time. In a short time span when Monica was just a young adult, Monica lost her Grandmother, Cousin, and the love of her life who shot and killed himself right in front of Monica. It was the latter that sparked Whitney’s mothering spirit and the two developed a bond so strong that to this day Monica remembers Whitney as one of the most influential people in her career and her life.
