Social media can be a powerful place, or is it the idea of unity and showing people what it is you want? If it wasn’t for the above photo, taken in 2014 at a Mui Mui fashion show though, the idea wouldn’t’ve happened. If you haven’t heard by now, thanks to a viral social media story derived from the photo above a movie is now being made.
In 2014 Rihanna and Lupita Nyong’o were spotted at a show and their fans started a story about the two being scammers. With the director and screen writer in mind, Ava Duvernay and Issa Rae were also tagged via Twitter in this possible fan project.
After each were tagged and asked if they’d do the project, neogitiations in Hollywood commenced! After tough negotiations Netflix picked it up with everyone attached to the project. That’s the power of unity. It makes you think though, if we show up, we get what we want!
According to reports, Ava will direct, Issa will write, and Rihanna and Lupita will star in the film with the idea of what social media sparked, giving credit to those who started their story. How epic is this going to be? And guess what? It’s still unfolding!
The Lesson?
We are all one great idea away from becoming a success. Unify, love on each other, and share your thoughts! You never know what could happen. Just imagine if there were more people unified under office, Cheeto wouldn’t be in there! Ya know?
