SZA’s SNL performances allowed fans and listeners to experience her platinum records; “The Weekend” and “Love Galore”, with a live band and choir. A dope experience, SZA truly delivered on SNL making personal history marked in history as one of the few Black performers on the long-running show whose audience extends itself to a middle-class white demographic. While performing for this demo is not a highlight, it’s important that we see this cross-over as to continue unification, and inspiration particularly in Black and Brown communities. The sky is truly the limit for us, and this helps carry that.

SZA is stepping into her voice as a once shy, raspy, soft voiced singer who has a hidden power in her cords. The choir was an extravagant addition, and even though she seemed nervous, the energy and power was there. She may’ve even developed a new it thing about her by ending each song, stepping away from the mic and giving the audience a meek, wide-eyed, bow and energy absorption. We are witnessing SZA’s rise.
