DC Comics new series, Black Lightning on the CW, aired its pilot episode to over 2 million viewers between the ages of 18-49 bringing in a higher male viewership. The all Black starring cast (Cress Williams, Nafessa Williams) marks the first time in history a DC superhero series has been created for television. With Mara Brock and Salim Akil (Girlfriends, Being Mary Jane, The Game) at the helm of writing and producing Black Lightning, never in history has a major comic helmed by people of colour, and starring people of colour existed before.
As the lead-in to The Flash, Black Lightning kept most of The Flash viewers making this show a must see. After trending via social media, millions more are aware of it, and will be tuned in next week to join the social fun of what’s to come. With 13 episodes ordered, Black Lightning is already a hit show, a show that many want to see.
