Supergroup August Greene features Academy Award winning rapper/actor, Common, Grammy winning producer Robert Glasper, and drummer Karriem Riggins, with their first release being Optimistic a Sounds of Blackness cover song featuring Brandy.
According to Common; “August Greene actually formed before we chose a name, before we even knew it was a band.” August Greene will have their debut performance in New York Jan 26th as apart of Robert Glasper’s annual Grammy Party, but no word if Brandy will join to mark the first time the group and Brandy will perform Optimistic.
Brandy does an amazing job tackling what was a 40 piece choir in the original song.
The supergroup/band will release their debut album this March 9th titled “August Greene” through Amazon Music. With a great lead single with the cover song, the talent of Robert, Karriem and Common, fans are waiting to hear some original music and hope it will sound as classic as their solo music, and this amazing cover song.
