SZA was the most nominated female artist at the 2018 Grammy Awards with five nominations, Best New Artist, Best R&B Song, Best Rap/Sung collaboration, Best Urban Contemporary, and Best R&B Performance.
SZA did not take home any Grammys this year, and the industry calls this being “India Aried” due to India.Arie losing to 7 nominations in 2002. SZA brought new sounds, a new wave, lyrical expressions we’ve never seen before, and universal themes, and we have no idea how she lost!

Y’all….I can’t believe SZA is going home empty-handed. CTRL was one of the best albums of 2017. This whole night is cancelled #GRAMMYs pic.twitter.com/gGHZ97YxsW

SZA lost to The Weeknd, Bruno Mars, Kendrick Lamar, Alessia Cara, and Rihanna.
Unlike many, SZA developed a new age sound, and while the artist she lost to are all at the top of their game, their music is, with the exception of Kendrick Lamar, standard music. Most of the categories she was nominated in dealt with music, and lyrics, and while we don’t believe there’s a conspiracy underway, to be nominated five times means you had an exceptional album, but to lose, and not take home at least one of them, what does that mean?
