Yvonne Staples Dies At 80 Known For The Staples Singers “I’ll Take You There” Hit



1/3 of The Staples Singers, Yvonne Staples, passed away April 10th 2018 at her home in Chicago, 80 years old, leaving behind the only living Staples sister, Mavis Staples at 79 years old.

The Staples Singers had a string of hits in the early 70s including the hit record “I’ll Take You There”, which was used in 100s of films, television shows, and commercials around the world. Yvonne Staples was known as the contralto vocalist of the trio, and also the manager of the group.



Helping to pave the way for so many Gospel/R&B groups and singers at a time when it wasn’t popular, Yvonne Staples and the group will be missed, but remembered through their music and leading business moves that impact artist today.
