In 2014, Perri “Pebbles” Reid sued VIACOM for claims of defamation spawned from the TLC Biopic, and after five years since the films release, has accepted a settlement. The 40 million dollar claim was set for trail this coming September, but after much deliberation, VIACOM and Pebbles, came to an agreement, settled out of court and the trial will no longer happen.
Pebbles reports VIACOM did not want to take the case to trail in fear they may lose. After VIACOM tried to get the case dismissed several times, the judge over the case believed there were several factors within the film that indicated defamation, thus giving Pebbles a right to trial.
After a four year long stretch, millions have forgotten about the lawsuit, but Pebbles is rejoicing in her achievement, and has even retweeted claims of validation. Pebbles was portrayed as a sinister manager who stole millions from TLC, but today, Pebbles finds justice and can hopefully put this case behind her.
