The lead character Wednesday (Palmer) grew up watching her dad (DMX) maintain “street-cred” and financial surplus from his occupation as a pimp, and once he died she felt the torch had been passed to her to continue in his footsteps.
The cast includes Haley Ramm (The Originals), Aunjanue Ellis (The Help), Vanessa Morgan (Finding Carter), Mike E. Winfield (Conversations in LA) and Edi Cathegi (Twilight).
Wednesday was immediately casted by Palmer, who also serves as a producer on the film. To express her interest in the role, Palmer sent an audition tape to Crokos, and she was blown away!
The film premiered at UrbanWorld Film Festival in New York City and it was unbelievably amazing! Keke Palmer truly transformed herself, no makeup, pure passion, and grit, into a pimp! After working on this film for 10+ years, the night of its screening (09/20) “Pimp” finally solidified a theatrical distribution deal and will have a place to call home. Nov 9th 2018 will be in theaters!
