Nicki Minaj dropped her new single “Megatron” with a dope music video featuring her current boyfriend Kenneth Petty. Nicki Minaj hopped on a Caribbean beat and addressed current headlines continuing to boss up and own who she is.
“Megatron” is a club bop meant for club goers, dancers, and people who are having fun! It’s heavily sampled by Mr. Vegas’s hit song “Heads High”, which is a very popular Reggie classic. Nicki Minaj even seemed to address the fact that her boyfriend Kenneth Petty, who was in prison for manslaughter and is a registered sex offender; “just came out of prison, bitches be talking shit, but they ain’t got a pot to piss in”.
Overall the record is a bop, but it’s the type of record we’ve heard before from the veteran rapper. Core fans and newer listeners are wondering when Nicki Minaj will elevate her rap consciousness and deliver something more poignant.
