Octavia Spencer to star as the first self-made female millionaire in America, Madam CJ Walker, on NETFLIX. The series “Self Made: Inspired By The Life Of Madam C.J. Walker”, is a limited series coming to NETFLIX this March 20th 2020.
This series will be the first story ever created for the screen for Madam C.J. Walker and it’s based on the book written by her great, great granddaughter A’Lelia Bundles. The book, On Her Own Ground: The Life and Times of Madam C. J. Walker, was released and published in 2001, and has been optioned for film since 2016.
Academy Award Winner Octavia Spencer is the perfect choice to deliver the strength, and sheer brilliance of Madam C.J. Walker.
Other notable actors to star in the series include: Tiffany Haddish (Girls Trip), Carmen Ejogo (Fantastic Beasts Film Series), Blair Underwood (When They See Us), Garret Morris (The Jamie Foxx Show) and Bill Bellamy (Comedian). It took a while to cast and find its home, but come March 2020, the world will know just how great Madam CJ Walker was.
