It’s not easy giving your testimony, but Lil Mo’s bravery to share her past opioid addiction, and abuse from ex-husband (Boxer) Karl Dargan, is inspiring. Two weeks ago on Radio One with DJ QuickSilva Lil’ Mo revealed her ex-husband verbally, mentally, and physically abused her.

NEARLY 20 PEOPLE PER MINUTE IS PHYSICALLY ABUSED BY THEIR INTIMATE PARTNER – NCAVD

Recently Lil’ Mo stopped by The Breakfast Club and recounted detailed moments from the initial interview where she revealed Dargan spit on her and threatened her life. With the story trending once again, many are asking, how could such a powerful outspoken woman like Lil’ Mo ever be in a situation like this?

According to Lil’ Mo her drug addiction, inner need to be married, and her spirit to help are the reasons she stayed, but it was when Karl spit on her that she couldn’t take it anymore.

1 IN 3 WOMEN HAVE EXPERIENCED A FORM OF PHYSICAL ABUSE FROM THEIR PARTNER – NCAVD

It’s inspiring to see a brazen woman who would often detest abuse publicly not only escape her abuser, but control her drug addiction as well. Several times during the almost hour long interview Lil’ Mo fought back tears.

Lil’ Mo stated she has not spoken to her ex since March of 2019, she is healthier and thanks to her manager, friends around her, and family, she was able to, after a difficult withdrawal and thoughts of suicide, kick her dependency of daily opioid intake. Lil’ Mo’s testimony is a strong message to powerful women who may find themselves in similar situations that your life matters more!

Self-Love is the name of the game here. Lil’ Mo realized she had to love herself enough to get out of an abusive relationship, stop taking drugs, and get back on track for not only her children, but for herself. No matter who you are, anyone is susceptible to drug addiction, and abuse. If You Need Help Call: 1-800-799-7233
