CBS orders the pilot for ‘The Equalizer’ reboot starring Queen Latifah, which is likely to be ordered into a full series. “The Equalizer” was a hit show that delivered four seasons in 1985 on CBS, and in 2014 Denzel Washington and Antoine Fuqua brought it to the big screen.
The 2014, and 2018 Denzel Washington film were both huge box office successes making over 100 million dollars each. The success, and interest around the film sparked CBS to make the reboot, which was unsuccessful, but now that Flavor Unit, Martin Chase Productions, and Universal Television are executive producing it, it’s said to be a “shoo-in” for a full series order.
Historically “The Equalizer” has been played by a male, but Queen Latifah will be stepping into the role as the first Woman to ever play the lead in the series.
The Equalizer stars Queen Latifah as an enigmatic figure who uses her extensive skills to help those with nowhere else to turn. This is a new take on the character played by Edward Woodward on the original series and by Denzel Washington in the movie franchise.
