A Brave New Woman

Fantasia’s latest Billboard shoot presents a brave new woman. Fantasia speaks with billboard about her suicide attempt, her new marriage, her past relationships, her new album and loving herself. It takes a lot to share the most vulnerable side of yourself with the world, but that’s the definition of magic!

Fantasia on Suicide;

“The situation came to a head in the spring of 2010 during the divorce trial of her then-boyfriend, Antwaun Cook, with allegations and accusations of home-wrecking, pregnancy and sex tapes. The humiliating public scrutiny culminated on Aug. 9, 2010, when Fantasia attempted suicide by downing a bottle of aspirin. “I was a broken woman,” she says.”

Unbeknownst to fans Fantasia and her now husband Taylor decided to take a vow of celibacy before consummating their love for each other. It’s a rarity in todays days to be in a relationship and not promote having sex right away, but it’s one that seemingly always works;

“Everything changed when I met him,” she says. The connection was instantaneous: Just three weeks after meeting at a local club, the pair wed in 2015. The brief courtship was intense, ­fulfilling — and ­celibate; they didn’t consummate the ­relationship until their wedding night, she ­confides. “I just knew [he was the one]. I was getting ready to go on the road, and he got on his knees and said, ‘Can I pray for you? I just want to cover for you down the road.’ In the time I’d been fasting from relationships, I asked God for ­someone to pray for me — ­someone that could cover me and my kids [Dallas, 4, and Zion, 14] and be the man of the house. That’s when I knew.” A year later, she says she’s never felt stronger.”

Fantasia is in a better space, new singles, and new album “The Definition Of…” which spawned amazing music videos and her new era of “Rock Soul”. Rock Soul is passionate, its emotions and she even went against the label and decided to push the envelope and do something that makes you feel. She and Husband Taylor will be heading a mentoring program called MOVE in Charlotte, which just goes to show you, going through trails makes you stronger if only you believe and continue to build on you. ..read more here
