Tyler Perry recently sat down with Jimmy Fallon to promote “Boo: A Madea Halloween”. During his interview Tyler Perry explained why he stayed with the character whom we all know as “Madea”. One would think it was Tyler’s grand plan to create Madea and star as Madea headlining his stage-play tours, and eventually films, but apparently that was never the plan.

According To Tyler;

“Madea was in the show, but there was a lady who was supposed to show up who didn’t, so I had a small role, but it became much bigger because that person didn’t show up I had her lines and mine and then at the end of the night I was apologizing to the audience because Im like, I advertised that this person would be there, she got a hit record on the radio and she didn’t show up and the audience is chanting; “we dont care, we dont care,”. So that’s how it all started. …..So for all of you who hate Madea you have Chicago to thank for that!”
