Azealia Banks released “CHI CHI” her new single and her debut record off her new label deal with Global Records. It’s been a while since we’ve heard new music from Azealia. After she released, for free, her mixtape “Slay-Z” fans have wanted a new album. Chi Chi appears to be that lead single.
Chi Chi, slang for girl, woman, baby, often used in Latin communities was inspired by Tony Montana’s character who in the film Scarface said to Chi Chi, “get the llello!”, which means, get the cocaine. Azealia Banks being from NYC with latin influences used what she was inspired by to create a metaphoric record that trended #3 on Twitter.
Azealia Banks proves time and time again through her masterful lyric choices and uber rhythmic flow that she is one of the greatest rappers of all time. Forget what you may think about her political views, opinions, and personality, she does this thing!
Azealia Banks is one of the few Afrikan American female rappers to consistently release dope records that have sick flows, and word play that’s out of this world. Added with her bassy New York tude, Azealia Banks, and “Chi Chi” could as she said, be the next “212”.
