Rapper Albert Johnson, aka Prodigy half of Mobb Deep dies while on tour. A known sufferer of sickle cell anemia, Prodigy was reportedly hospitalized for his condition. Sickle cell effects the Afrikan population more than others, in which red blood cells die causing a slew of physical issues, some can even lead to death.
Johnson was on the “Art Of Rap” tour in Las Vegas when he was hospitalized. The temperature was over 100 degrees which can magnify his disease. Once security noticed Prodigy was struggling to stay responsive they pulled him out of a meet and greet and took him to the hotel. Once his conditioned worsened he was taken to the hospital in which he passed.
Prodigy’s Cause of Death & Legacy:
Unfortunately no one is sure or has information just yet on how he passed It was announced August 4th that Prodigy’s cause of death was an accidental choking; “Clark County coroner’s office confirmed to the Daily News, and reports suggest the culprit was an egg.” (more here). Prodigy’s legacy is one that spans over 20 years. An affluent rapper, this genius lyricist created some of the most dopest records over the illest beats.
Records like; “Shook Ones”, “Hit It From The Back” and “Got It Twisted” put Mobb Deep and Prodigy more specifically on the radar as one of the greatest rap duo’s of all time. After the world learned of his passing, music videos, past interviews, photos, commentary and more popped up on the social sphere, proving his nature was well received while on Earth. His solo music and Mobb Deep’s music still reigns at parties, in households etc to this day, and the Art of Rap tour was a testimony to that. His legacy.
A Word From His Publicist;

As most of his fans know, Prodigy battled the disease since birth. The exact causes of death have yet to be determined.
