August 22nd at 8pm Black Girls Rock! aired on BET to hundreds of thousands of viewers. All across the US viewers tuned in to celebrate Black culture, entertainment, science, arts, leadership, philanthropy, activism, exceptionalism, and Women!
Highlights of the night include learning about the exceptional women of colour who are trailblazers in history. Queens like Haben Girma the first deaf and blind girl to graduate from Harvard, or Dr. Njema Frazier a nuclear physicist at the department of energy. BET did a great job showing us, and those alike what it means to be a Black Girl Who ROCKS!
Queen Maxine Waters help to close the night out with some powerful, funny, yet wise words of encouragement. By speaking proudly and loudly Maxine Waters was able to make everyone get up out of their seats and recognize their power!
Great speeches from Yara Shahidi, and Issa Rae kept us glued to the television.
