Janet Jackson Reigns In Control Through Abuse, Divorce, Weight & Critics

Control

Ever since her 1986 release of Control Janet Jackson has been a leader in taking your own life, in your own hands. Through recent her recent divorce to Wissam Al Mana, weight gain, having a baby at 50, weight loss, negative critics, and most recently verbal abuse allegations her brother Randy Jackson claimed, Janet is a warrior!

“This is a story about control
My control
Control of what I say
Control of what I do
And this time I’m gonna do it my way
I hope you enjoy this as much as I do
Are we ready?
I am
Cause it’s all about control
And I’ve got lots of it”

Janet Jackson has always shown the world her strength in moving on. Many have stayed and will stay in relationships, intimate and business, for years not wanting to, but Janet inspires options. Leaving her father who managed her first two albums, her first annuled husband James Debarge, René Elizondo her second husband, her father who managed her first two albums, Jermaine Dupri, Virgin records, and her now ex-husband Wissam Al Mana, through the noise of the naysayers she remains in control. Seems like whenever someone tries to control her life, she grabs it back, as she should!

Recently, during her State Of The World Tour, Janet Jackson broke down and cried. The song she broke down to; “What About” speaks on abuse, misogyny, lying and cheating. During the record Janet stopped, started crying and stated; “that was me”. Fans were sent in a rage.

Control: The Lesson

After that video surfaced, brother Randy Jackson took to People to disclose personal information about the verbal abuse Jackson faced from husband Wissam; “It was quite an abusive situation,” Randy claims. “It came on later in the relationship, verbal abuse and being [made to feel like] a prisoner in her own home. No pregnant woman needs to go through being called a bitch everyday. There were things like that. That’s what she went through.”

Even though Wissam’s team said Randy’s statements are completely false, the timeline of things is curious. Either way, the essence of Janet in the midst of it all is the soaring white dove. Being a Woman society believes women who “can’t keep a man” to be useless or problematic, as if keeping a man is a hard task. Janet being the sex symbol Goddess that she is with insecurities of her own shows the world and women in particular that no man defines your actions, do what you want when you want because….YOU WANT!

Having just had a baby, dealing with the hormonal changes of that, weight loss, tour rehearsal, divorce, and getting her life back, Janet is a force that inspires. Through it all Janet teaches without saying much, that no matter what, live your best life and if a situation you’re in no longer works for you, change it, and regret nothing!
