H&M Issues Apology And Investigation For Monkey Ad Featuring A Black Child

H&M released an apology after an image from their UK market went viral showing a Black child wearing a hoodie sweater that reads; “Coolest Monkey In The Jungle”. Offensive imagery, people of colour are not happy about this. Considering Amerikkkan history, which in many ways is world history (trans atlantic slave trade), calling Black children Monkeys is not acceptable in 2018. #TimesUp on that.

The imagery alone has put thoughts into the weak minds of others. Jokes have been made, and the adorable model, who was just doing his job, is now the face of a scandal. People of colour have fought too hard for equality to allow such an image to be used as an Ad when the other shirts and designs on whites do not paint them to be less than Human.

H&M Apology And Investigation:

“We are deeply sorry that the picture was taken, and we also regret the actual print. herefore, we have not only removed the image from our channels, but also the garment from our product offering globally. It is obvious that our routines have not been followed properly. This is without any doubt. We will thoroughly investigate why this happened to prevent this type of mistake from happening again.” [truncated]

Even though H&M believes this was a mistake, which is a possibility, the fact is, someone-somewhere thought it was perfect for this Black child to wear this. Why? Is it because they are still brainwashed to believe this is appropriate, or is it because they feel they must continue to degrade the Afrikan race? Either way, it’s wrong, and if this weak apology does not offer true investigation, then a boycott must be had.

  1. I said the same thing in the article, however, an investigation is supposedly on the rise so we will see what they find.
