After Daily Mail and FOX “news” job shamed Cosby Actor Geoffrey Owens for working at Trader Joes, Geoffrey spoke out on Good Morning America with Robin Roberts. Owens has since quit his job at Trader Joes due to the recent unwanted attention, but Trader Joes says he can work their anytime he wants.

A proud Geoffrey Owens, wearing his Trader Joes badge, spoke on Good Morning America about the ridiculousness of his recent press. He made sure to note #ActorsWithDayJobs has been a reality for years for many actors. Geoffrey has been a teacher, and director, but as he says it; “I’d been teaching, acting, directing for 30 plus years, but got to a point where it just didn’t add up enough, I wanted a job where I could have some flexibility”.

Even though Owen’s recent press brought him much attention, he nobly states, he wouldn’t feel comfortable getting a job out of this situation, but that auditioning and getting work based off of merit would be great!

Tyler Perry Offer’s Geoffrey A Job:

Geoffrey Owens, like many other actors, work several jobs to make ends meet, even actors currently on television. Laverne Cox didn’t quit her day job until after season two of Orange Is The New Black. And even though Geoffrey says he hasn’t been getting any jobs after this recent press, hopefully he lands more auditions and through his moment helps to change what it means to be a working actor.
