2020-21 New Jersey To Require LGBTQ History Education In Public Schools

New Jersey’s Governor Phil Murphy signed a bill that will require, in 2020-21, public schools in New Jersey to teach LGBTQ history. Private schools are not required, but during the 2020 school year, the bill requires all public schools to teach political, economic, and social contributions stemming from the LGBTQ community.

Many New Jersey residents were upset and felt there was an LGBTQ agenda at play to teach their children to sin. Even though that’s not what the bill represents, the illogical nature of parents and concerned residents are of concern to LGBTQ educators in Jersey, and students as well.

Individuals who identify as LGBTQ have greatly contributed to American history and to teach students about those individuals will only help unify.

“By learning about LGBTQ people who have made amazing contributions to their country, they are seeing possibilities for themselves and hope for the future,” – Jaime Bruesehoff 12 year old Transgender child in New Jersey.
