A&E launched a campaign on race equality after the terrible murders of the Charleston 9. To help with it’s launch A&E created a concert series, and episode one has everyone talking. “Shining A Light: A Concert for Progress on Race in America” featured some of the most influential entertainers in the business. Jill Scott, Miguel, Tori Kelly, John Legend, and Morgan Freeman to name a few. This two hour concert aired November 19th and it’s still buzzing! Everyone is ready for the next episode. A&E is moving in a direction that many are becoming interested in. It’s even talks that Jada  Pinkett Smith is going to have her own show in production with A&E studios.

Jill Scott’s performance of “Strange Fruit”, a very difficult song to perform, speaks on the lynching, killing, and burning of Afrikan Americans, made famous by Billie Holiday. The song holds a heavy weight, and history, anyone would fear in the presence of performing it, but Jill Scott…well…see for yourself:
