COMING 2 AMERICA
THR confirmed Paramount Studios hired the original writers for “Coming To America” to write a possible sequel. The 1988 film was a commercial breakout success that turned into a cult classic. Receiving over 250 million dollars from box office sales worldwide, noted as one of the funniest films of all time, Paramount would be stupid not to create a part two. TheBLACKMedia thinks it should be called “Coming 2 America”
Coming To America starred Eddie Murphy and Arsenio Hall, and together they’ve created something that over 20 years later is still unmatched. Unfortunately there’s no word just yet if Eddie will sign on to reprise his role, considering he just lost his brother it may be a while, but fans want Eddie and Arsenio to return.
THR On Coming To America:
“The project is still early on in the development process, but Kevin Misher (Carrie, Public Enemies) is attached to produce. There is no word yet on whether Eddie Murphy will reprise his iconic role.”
This film will be a huge hit, but only if all of the living characters return to the film. If the writers decide to recast, the film will not be as successful. Considering it’s success Arsenio and Eddie are looking at a grand pay day if they sign on. Let’s hope they do, and prayers are up for Eddie.
