The 2018 Emmys Nominations were announced March 21st 2018 on The Talk, and to much surprise, the Youtube Drama series GIANTS produced by Issa Rae and Jussie Smollett scored two nominations making history as the first to do it.

Creator of the series James Bland, who also stars in GIANTS as Malachi, was nominated for Outstanding Actor in Lead Digital Drama Series, and his co-star Vanessa Baden Kelly as Lead Actress. A historic moment for Issa Rae Color Creative initiative (and Jussie Smollett as executive producer), which produces hand selected series via her Youtube channel, and for Malachi and Vanessa as this will be their first nomination; “no studio, no networks, no agents, just us… #nothingwillbethesame” – James Bland
James Bland will be the first Black Emmy nominee to have created and starred in his own Youtube Drama Series, which you can stream free via Youtube today starting from Season one episode one, to the current new season two.
